Standing Rules

 

ARTICLE I – General Monetary

Section 1. All officers and chairperson shall be reimbursed for out of pocket expenses.

Section 2. Any change in policy, either monetary or functional, must be presented to the general membership.

Section 3. The Executive Committee may expend monies for incidental not to exceed a total of $75.00 and report at the next meeting.

Section 4. The treasury shall donate $50 to the prize fund for each of the Gross Club Champion, the Net Club Champion, and the Mesa del Sol Cup Champion. The cost of the President’s outgoing award shall not exceed $50.00.

ARTICLE II – Regular Ladies Day Competitions

Section 1. All members in good standing with established USGA handicaps or temporary handicaps issued by the MDS Women’s Golf Club Handicap Chairperson are eligible for prizes in the regular weekly competition.

Section 2. Any non-member may play as a guest only 3 times a year. All guests must have verifiable handicaps to enter the sweeps. Anything complimentary to the members by the club must be paid for by the guest.

Section 3. Ladies must sign up online prior to 12:01 AM Monday for the Thursday competition and online prior to12:01 AM Friday for the Monday play and may pay the sweeps fee of $3.00.

Section 4. A minimum of one-third of the field will be paid. If ties must be broken and a play-off is not feasible, match score cards based on the best score for the last nine holes. If the tying players (teams) have the same scores for the last nine, determine the winners based on the last six holes, last three holes and finally the 18th hole. Pay equal low gross and low net when appropriate (Thursday play).

Section 5. A person can only win once during play and that gross takes precedence to net.

Section 6. Have a 40 plus flight when numbers permit.

Section 7. All stroke play tournaments will be played as scheduled unless a change is authorized by the Tournament Chairperson. Matches may be scheduled by the competitors.

ARTICLE III – Club Championship

Section 1. The Club Championship is a stroke play competition open to all members in good standing with established handicaps who have played at least 5 times in Ladies Day competition on either Monday or Thursday combining the previous and the current playing seasons. Maximum Handicap index is 54.0

Section 2. The Club Championship will be held on one Thursday and one Monday in March avoiding conflict with other outside tournaments wherever possible.

Section 3. Contestants will be divided into flights depending on handicaps and number of competitors.

Section 4. Ties for the overall Club Champion (gross and net) will be broken by sudden death playoff starting at the first hole .

Section 5. All flights will pay a minimum of 3 gross and 1 net, gross to take precedence. Players cannot win both gross and net. The overall gross winner and overall net winner shall be the Gross Club Champion and Net Club Champion, respectively. The Gross Club Champion cannot also win Net Club Champion. The Club Champions cannot also place in their respective flights. The Gross Club Champion and Net Club Champion will receive a minimum of $50.00 each from the prize fund.

Section 6. The entry fee is $10.00. The treasury will donate $5.00 per competitor to the prize fund, and an additional $50.00 for each of the Gross Club Champion and Net Club Champion.

ARTICLE IV – MESA Del SOL CUP

Section 1. The MDS Cup is a match play competition open to all members in good standing with established handicaps.

Section 2. It should be held in January and February and may be held on Ladies Day if a shotgun is not scheduled. If a match cannot be played on a specific day, it MUST be played before the next match play date. If a future date cannot be made, the person originally asking for the postponement must default.

Section 3. Contestants will be divided into as many flights of 8 as sign-up permits. Pairings will be made in accordance with the general numerical draw and based on current handicap index and differential if necessary. Since this competition will span more than one revision date, the handicap used in any match shall be the handicap in effect on the date that match is played. Maximum Course Handicap is 54.

Section 4. Ties will be broken by sudden death starting at the first hole.

Section 5. The entry fee is $10.00. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the winner’s bracket and winner of consolation flight. The treasury will donate $5.00 per competitor.

Section 6. The overall champion will be determined by a playoff among the flight winners. The winner will receive an appropriate award.

 

ARTICLE V – Eclectic

Section 1. The Eclectic Tournament is open to all members in good standing (Must have paid current year Ladies Club Dues.)

Section 2. It will be held during the months of December thru February. Monday and Thursday League play scores may be used.

Section 3. The entry fee of $5.00 is included in your membership fee

Section 4. The Treasury will donate $25.00 each for overall low gross and net winners.

ARTICLE VI – MEDALLION

Section 1: The Medallion is a stroke play competition open to all amateur members in good standing with established handicap.

Section 2: The Medallion is the best 2 of 4 rounds played during January thru March, on Ladies day. (Monday and Thursday)

Section 3: The low Gross and Net players will attend the AGA Medallion tournament scheduled for January the following year.

Section 4: AGA Medallion entry fee will be paid by MDS Ladies club. Section 5: The AGA Medallion will be run by the AGA Representative or her designate.

 

ARTICLE VII – SPECIAL AWARDS

Section 1. Break pins: Will be awarded for breaking 80, 90 or 100 for the first time at Mesa del Sol. This score must be broken during Ladies Day competition.

Section 2. Hole-In-One: An appropriate Hole-in-One award will be presented ANY TIME a hole-in-one is scored between November 1st and April 30th; (a) at Mesa del Sol, (b) the hole is regulation and not a temporary, and (c) it is witnessed by two other golfers who will attest to it. The expenditure for the award will not exceed $50.

Section 3. Eagle: An appropriate Eagle award will be presented ANY TIME an Eagle is scored between November 1st and April 30th; (a) at Mesa del Sol, (b) the hole is regulation and not a temporary, and (c) it is witnessed by two other golfers who will attest to it. The expenditure for the award will not exceed $50.

Section 4. Most Improved: The Most Improved to start Nov.1 through March 1 each season. The Most Improved player will be listed in the last GHIN update received. She will receive an award not to exceed $25.00.

ARTICLE VIII HOLE-IN-ONE INSURANCE

Section 1. One dollar of the annual membership dues shall be allocated to the hole-in-one fund.

Section 2. The total amount in the fund may be used only to defray the cost of drinks at the clubhouse bar, on the day of the hole-in-one for members of the Ladies Club and limited to one drink per person.

 

ARTICLE IX – SPECIAL POSTING INSTRUCTIONS

Section 1. The Tournament Chairpersons will automatically post scores by computer on Ladies day competitions. All members must post all other scores in GHIN regardless of where the rounds are played. If such rounds are played where posting on GHIN is not possible, the member shall post the scores on return to Mesa del Sol.

Section 2. All 9-hole scores MUST be posted. If seven holes are completed, post as 9-hole score. The holes not completed will be computed using par for the hole plus handicap strokes.

Section 3. If an 18 Hole round is not completed but 14 or more holes are played, the total score of par plus handicap strokes for the hole(s) not completed shall be entered.

Section 4. If a player “picks up” on a hole, she shall record for handicap purposes the score she most likely would have made if the hole had been completed. Such score shall not exceed the maximum she is allowed. (Par + 2 + Handicap Strokes given on that hole)

ARTICLE X – AMENDMENTS These rules may be amended or new rules adopted at any membership meeting by an affirmative vote of a majority of all members present.
